The default position of this blog is that no one really reads it. Surfers find it accidentally, spend as little time as possible on it and then move on, never to come back again. That does not stop me from looking at Google Analytics about who is coming from where.
On December 25 I was intrigued more than usual when I saw both on Google Analytics as well as Lijit a visit each from in Marrakech and Casablanca. My only connection to Morocco/Casablanca is the 1942 movie 'Casablanca', which I have seen any number of times. That prompted the question: why would anyone come to this blog from Marrakech and Casablanca?
The only plausible answer that I came up with is David Coleman Headley. It seems the Mumbai terror suspect, now awaiting trial in Chicago, used to have a Moroccan girlfriend in India. The Press Trust of India (PTI), one of India's largest news agencies, has reported quoting intelligence sources to say that Headley's Moroccan girlfriend was doing reconnaissance of a Jewish center in Manali, a popular tourist town in the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh. There is indeed a Jewish center in Manali which is popular with Israeli backpackers.
Since I have been reporting on the Headley case regularly it is conceivable that a Google search points at this blog among other sites. So it could well be that someone from Casablanca and Marrakech may have chanced upon this blog. Either that or I have gone crazy. At this point I would say it is 50:50.
