I have done very few still lifes because they require a great deal of controlled dynamism while painting. The one above is mostly pastel and watercolor with the wine in the bottle in acrylic. I like it because despite being a still life, one gets some sense of animation in it, especially in the wine bottle.
When I take the background away the painting looks like this:
You can see the energy in my rather untrained brushwork.
